Covington, Ind. - Mrs. Elma C. Douglas, 84, a resident of Covington Route 1 since 1971, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 9, 1973) at the Meadow Heights Nursing Home in Williamsport. She had been a patient since Oct. 30. Born Aug. 12, 1889, in Switzerland County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Smith Scott. She was married Feb2, 1906, to Ralph Fletcher, who died Dec 5, 1957. She was married Sept 4, 1971, to Everett H Douglas, who survives. Mrs. Douglas resided in the Veedersburg community from 1915 to 1971 and was a member of the Sterling Church of God. She also formerly resided in Boswell. Survivors include three sons, Arthur Fletcher of Veedersbrug, Carl Fletcher of Auburndale, Fla, and Ralph Fletcher Jr. of Veedersburg: four daughters, Mrs. Rachael Thorlton of Dunnelton, Fla., Mrs. Ermadel Beetle and Mrs. Betty Shank, both of Bourbonnais and Mary Margaret Colfton of Danville; five stepsons, Gordon Douglas, Wayne Douglas and Donald Douglas, all of Veedersburg, Eugene Douglas of Veedersburg Route 4 and Carl Douglas of Brooksville, Fla; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Sylvia Holt of Attica Route 1; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Cann of Oxnard, Calif;, 38 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; 22 step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers, seven sisters, three stepsons and three stepdaughters. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Easton officiating. Burial will be in Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. - kbz

Also surviving are five stepsons, Carl Douglas of Brooksville, Fla., Gordon, Wayne and Donald Douglas of Veedersburg and Eugene Douglas of Rt. 4, Veedersburg; a step-daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Holt of Rt. 1, Attica, and 22 step-grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Easton officiating and burial in Bonebrake Cemetery.
